You're Missing the Big Story of the Weekend, Fox News

Posted by on Sat, Feb 18, 2012 at 5:50 PM

Do you think that somebody needs to mention to Fox News that they're missing out on the biggest story of the Republican presidential campaign this weekend? Oliver Willis, on Twitter, points out that if you search Fox News for "Babeu," you get 15 results, but none of them are from after January 4th, 2012, and certainly none of them mention any sort of sex scandal:

I'm sure this is just some sort of an oversight on Fox's part.

Yup, Bar Keeper's Friend and a similar product called Bon Ami are the best cleaning products for hard counter/sink/stove surfaces.

I mistyped it. It's actually "Bar Keeper's Friend" . It's like Comet, only more delicious. And it doesn't scratch. It's wonderful for things like appliances and stainless steel cookware.

What is "Barkeepers Friend"? Is it delicious?

This sort or partisan behavior from a major news organization is just the sort of Chicago-style politics(*) that the Obama administration has brought to the mainstream.

(*) By "Chicago-style politics", I mean, of course, that Obama is black.

Dear Supreme Leader:
Putting up pictures of yourself or posting annoyingly self-aggrandizing comments of the 'hey, look at me/look at the cool thing I did (or saw, or read)' puts you squarely in Will in Seattle territory.
Your opinions or comments, when they contribute to or add more information to an article are one thing. The 'Looky what I did' posts are crap.

Surprised they haven't put a (D) in front of his name in the video feed yet. Tends to be a habit of theirs.

Hat tip @18!

Not that I've ever worn that kind of hat. Floppy little bike-racing caps don't really cut it in the tipping dept.

Supreme Ruler dearest, a little bit of "Barkeepers Friend" sprinkled on a damp nylon scrubber will clean that stovetop right up! And if you put your burner pans in a plastic bag with just a splash of ammonia, and leave it overnight, you will find even the toughest dried on food will rinse right off. But the easiest way to keep a stove clean is to wipe spills up right when they happen. I don't think you've been doing that. Tsk, Tsk, Tsk....

And I'm a little concerned that you might be using the wrong sized pans on your burners. We mustn't waste energy dear! After all, you're a PSE customer - lots of fish had to die to cook your lasagna!

But overall, what a nice lasagna!

Just imagine how extensive their coverage would be if he were an outspoken democrat. It would be very concerned and earnest. Especially if he were heterosexual.

Consciously and openly biased is the new 'objective' in news reporting... did you not get the memo that actual news objectivity was fully dead, @6? Nails in coffin already. Pushing up daisies.

Did I say Frission. I meant fission.

Or something.

I have had an enormous migraine for the last 24 hours.

So ignore everything I say.

Like usual.

Now I'm making lasagna.

alot

This spelling of ‘a lot’ (in the adverbial senses of "very much or many" and "often") is frequent in informal writing but not generally accepted by arbiters of English usage. Others view it as a legitimate contraction.

Is SLOG a "news outlet".

It seems to be one sided.

For example, getting information about Rob McKenna from the the Democrat Party?

Seems like in 2006/7 SLOG spent most of its time trying to get people to move into condos.

It kept running articles about all these great condos.

How much are those condos worth now?

I guess alot of people were hurt by that.

@4,

Still, given the increasingly large percentage of folks who get their news via video (and presumably even more so amongst the Fox faithful) it still seems rather dubious.

One thing I was thinking about...it seems like there is Dan Savage...a single issue person...who, after he got ME...ran away.

And then there is SLOG which for a while professed some sort of allegiance to the wider movement of Occupy.

Seems like there's a lot of frisson between those who want to get their special interest thing done, and those who are really challenging the status quo.

What do you think?

Or it's an oversight on how the search was conducted. Search for all Fox News stories and not just videos and the Babeu gay story is there.

If they were actually a news station, and not just an ad agency for the GOP, then they would cover it.
