A new CNN/ORC poll (PDF) shows good news for President Obama: For the first time since Navy Seals killed Osama bin Laden, Barack Obama's approval ratings are at 50% approve to 48% disapprove. He also competes favorably (and above 50% every time) when placed in a head-to-head contest with each Republican candidate (Romney comes closest, at 51% to 46%). This is the rare poll that is entirely made up of positive news for the president. (The standard warnings when talking about national polling this early in the race—the party hasn't yet coalesced behind a single candidate, the VP candidate could invigorate the party and attract moderates, etc.—absolutely apply.)
