The Santorum campaign is putting out two new commercials in upcoming primary states. The noteworthy thing about both commercials is that they're very positive: Santorum walks with his wife through sunshiny fields and positive comments from people like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck flood across the screen (although several of the quotes do feel as though the campaign cut out whole clauses that began "but in the real world..." to preserve the positive vibe.) This is the smartest way the Santorum campaign can battle the Romney super PAC's recent huge ad buys: The super PAC ads will be insanely negative, and Santorum can achieve the dignity of a frontrunner by refusing to stoop to Romney's level. (Meanwhile, Gingrich is launching a kind of hilarious Valentine's Day-themed attack on Romney.) You can buy a whole lot of votes with the money the Romney campaign has, but you also run the risk of infecting yourself with the toxicity of a hater. Santorum's happy-sunshine ads are intended to be an antidote to the vileness of the impending attacks, and they just might work.

Meanwhile, if you're looking for shaky, blurry, loud footage of last night's Santorum rally, I've got almost two minutes in heaven for you. Please bear in mind that this was a rare, relatively quiet moment from the beginning of the speech, in that you can actually hear what Santorum's saying:
