Which of these two anti-gay-marriage legislators will move on to the next round of competition in our Tournament of Dunces? (Winner gets a flower from a gay florist, a bacon cheeseburger from Jack in the Box, and their official state portrait on the cover of The Stranger.) Let the voting begin!

Matt "My Business Will Not Participate In Gay Marriages Because Florists Are Oppressed and Man I Hate Tulips" Shea...

....versus Jason "Circular Logic Is More Impressive With Long Pauses" Overstreet

Shea's more of a fuck, but Overstreet's more of a dummy. I don't know who to vote for.

I sure am grateful that my Supreme Court decided this for us. I don't think I could have handled hearing my MPs say things this horrible.

Overstreet has a certain Forest Gump delivery that does not help him.

Overstreet is pretty logical. It's just that his premise is flawed. Flawed as in ridiculously hideously aaaaaaaargh

Jason Overstreet talks so slow he almost put me to sleep.

@5 Just because he says the word logical does not mean he himself is logical.

Shorter Overstreet: "We're a Christian country because the word 'God' is in the preamble to the Constitution"

Jason! Logic! Nope! You get my vote...but I'm sorry, you probably won't win this round.

Anyone else have their gaydar go off when they started watching the Overstreet video? Like for serious...poor guy! Truth is a great thing and I think he needs to spend some time finding it.

And honey, you're not a very good speaker..perhaps I might suggest becoming a florist?

Overstreet's speech should be a crime mostly for being boring. But Lawyer Shea announcing he plans to violate the law in the name of protecting florists wins this pairing, hands down.

Sheesh. It's Jason. State law should reflect neither religious preference nor religious prejudice. And a guy who stands AS A LEGISLATOR and starts spouting a bunch of religious hooey should be ashamed of himself for being such a dumbfuck that he doesn't understand that.

I never knew that homophobic Dominionist florists are one of the crucial foundations of our economy. Thanks for clearing that up!

I may have been lulled into sleep by the strange delivery, but I think by Overstreet's 'logic' neither he nor any of the other people in that room should even be there because we should all be following THE TRUTH and don't need a legislative body to make up rules for us. But still, Shea kept going on about florists and religion and tulips...this is a very difficult choice.

I think the transcendent, universal, invariable Truth is that these people all know they've lost their quest for supremacy in Washington state, and are just having a bitter tantrum for the record, so that we can all bear witness to the transcendent, universal, and invariable stupidity of supremacism and supremacists.

There is something bizarrely funny about wanting to protect florists from gay people buying flowers! He got my vote.

Overstreet, easily. I thought Shea gave a spirited -- you might say florid -- defense of religious bigotry.

Side note: Who knew that the Washington Legislature was just one big Christian conclave? I had this naïve notion that most legislators understood the Establishment Clause. Notion dispelled.

Overstreet is a jackass. He talks about the Declaration of Independence alluding to God, but the Treaty of Tripoli (which is actually an American legal document) explicitly says that the USA is in no way founded on Christianity.
I'm more forgiving of a bigot being open about his beliefs than trying to pass them off as logic.

Overstreet is by his own boring sanctimonious claim to logic such an irrational dumbfuck, I didn't even make it to Shea. God save us from thy poseurs. Not once in his dispicable diatribe did he even mention the topic.

Matt is a tool, with a dash of the evil that opposed 1964, while Jason is truly a dunce. An adorable, small-minded dunce. How did he get elected? There must have been a very small pool to choose from in Blaine, I suppose. Since the contest is for duncery, I guess I'll have to vote for this moron.

I love how all these Losers claim it is such an honor to have an open and civil debate about marriage equality. The only reason there is a civil and open debate is because screaming and cursing got them nowhere.

Why can't I vote for both?

Overstreet by a mile. Shea was whining about businesses not being allowed to exlude negro...sorry gay folks. He is an asshole. But the sheer dumbfuckery of "Truth is God and God is Truth and since Truth is God and God hates fags, no gay marriage, m'kay?" is impossible not to vote for.
