Would You Vote for The Rock?

Posted by on Wed, Feb 8, 2012 at 8:05 AM

The Rock says politics are definitely in his future:

Right now the best way that I can impact the world is through entertainment. One day, and that day will come, I can impact the world through politics. The great news is that I am American, therefore I can become President. But don't forget: I am G.I. Joe.

I will watch The Rock in anything. Yes, even Doom. And I think, God help me, I would probably vote for The Rock, too, if the elected office wasn't too important. He seems like such a nice guy! So let's assume The Rock lives in your state. What is the highest office to which you would elect The Rock?

Shirtlessness and the Rock? No thank you. That's also my response to any office he might want to run for.

Well you all better be ready to go door to door for the Rock in 2016 when he's up against Santorum!

Around 2000 a friend of mine gave me a Rock WWF DVD to take home and watch. I had no interest, but he said do it. It was nothing but the speeches that he gave and no wrestling. My rommies and I watched it back to back, it was funny as hell. I think I smell a new feature article from Paul..... http://www.amazon.com/WWE-Rock-Peoples-C…

I'm about 70% pure issue voter/20% qualifications/10% character. So while he only has a bachelor's degree, hasn't served anywhere in any capacity, if his policy positions were within my acceptable margin of error andherran a good campaign, I wouldn't let the fact that he was a professional wrestler (like Lincoln!) get in the way of voting for him.

Just as long as he doesn't fail at monogamy with an undisclosed ten year affair with his maid, I think he'd be great. Seriously.

You forgot dog catcher. And, hey, Minnesota already did the former pro wrestler thing.

Could you guys do a slog poll for me? I live in Michigan and need to know who I should vote for in the Republican primary. (We're allowed to vote in either primary, and I'm not worried about Obama's chances in the nomination process.) Usually it's kind of obvious who we should vote for, to maximize pissing off local Republicans, but this time it isn't so clear.

Mayor The Rock would have taken down the Viaduct with one flying forearm.

What about Drain Commissioner? I'd totally vote for him for Drain Commissioner.

I believe I saw his name on a list of celebrity Republicans. But true he does seem like a swell guy.

@11 - Yeah, he was a W supporter. But hey, people can change, right? right?

I was going to pick "nothing," but on the basis of the first half of the SNL "The Rock Obama" clip, I'm at least willing to listen to his stump speech. Any indication which party he intends to inflict himself on?

He would be such a good sheriff you guys! Anytime the baddies came to the Roadhouse to start something he would just flip over their cars and blow things up!

He seems like a fairly nice guy from all I've seen from old roommates' obsessions, I think him and Mick Foley would both probably have pretty liberal stances on most political topics.

I find this pretty amusing-

On the one hand, he gave a speech at the DNC a few years back and has been a supporter for gay rights.

On the other hand, he's of the royal Samoan bloodline, so he's a 1%er.
