The Republican Race Is Getting Democrats Excited About Voting

Posted by on Wed, Feb 8, 2012 at 1:30 PM

Take this with a grain of salt, but Public Policy Polling posted some interesting numbers last night:

Our last national survey for Daily Kos found that 58% of Democrats were 'very excited' about voting this fall, compared to 54% of Republicans. Six months ago the figures were 48% of Democrats 'very excited' and Republicans at the same 54%.

Self-described teabaggers aren't as excited about voting as they were in July, a quarter of conservatives are not excited at all about voting, and African-Americans are more excited about voting than any other group of voters.

The Democrats are excited about voting! What else are Democrats excited about?

...Democrats approve of the drone strikes on American citizens by 58-33, and even liberals approve of them, 55-35. It’s hard to imagine that Dems and liberals would approve of such policies in quite these numbers if they had been authored by George W. Bush.

Well, before everyone gets all excited about Rocky, you better read this: http://alethonews.wordpress.com/2012/02/…

I'm not an anarchist, but I agree with Emma Goldman. If voting was effective, they would have outlawed it long ago.

We need to organize independently on the issues and pressure whomever is in office.

@3,

I have great respect for Emma Goldman, specifically for her courage in opposing the USSR for being an autocratic state. But her statement was still profoundly ignorant. Voting has been illegal for the vast majority of people through the vast majority of human history. To deny the usefulness of voting spits in the faces of people who died for that right.

Also: whoever, not whomever.

Americans are getting a taste right now of what conservatism is really all about. The fact that RINO liberal Romney isn't sailing to the nomination without a fight is forcing him to confront the fact that this is a conservative country and that Americans do not want socialism. The fight to send the Kenyan Marxist homosexual back to Africa where he came from has only just begun, and it is a fight for America's survival.

I urge all of you to read Mark Levin's excellent book "Ameritopia," because he right describes America as being post-constitutional. If you want to know what the Kenyan Marxist homosexual illegally occupying the White House has done to our country, I urge you to read Mr. Levin's book.

Then go out and fight like heck to get a real true conservative elected. Personally, I wanted Perry, then Cain. But I think Newt is the one who will expose the lies of Barry Soetoro, so that's who I'm behind.

@3 Thank you for linking to that email exchange between Rocky and someone named John V. Walsh.

It was very enlightening and effectively bolstered my confidence in Rocky's judgement and his positions -- on wars of aggression (against), imperialism (against), and humanitarian obligation to oppose genocide (for).

I agree with @4 that opting not to vote is detrimental. Even if you end up writing in your own candidate, I can't conceive of any actual harm that could arise from voting. Indeed voting might just conduce beneficial change.

Absolutely we should pressure whomever is in office, but why on Earth shouldn't we try to elect candidates who are more amenable to our will in the first place?
