President of the United States Had Sex with an Intern...

Posted by on Mon, Feb 6, 2012 at 4:21 PM

...in 1962:

“The president came over to me and asked me if I’d like to take a tour of the second floor of the White House and see some of the rooms that had been redecorated. The last room that we went into was the bedroom and we walked into the bedroom and it was a beautiful room…I learned later that it was Mrs. Kennedy’s bedroom,” Alford said.

Alford says that she lost her virginity to the president in the first lady’s bedroom. In her soon to be released memoir, Once Upon a Secret My Affair with President John F. Kennedy and its Aftermath, Alford described her first sexual encounter with the president writing that, “I wouldn’t describe what happened that night as making love, but I wouldn’t call it nonconsensual either.”

Man. Sex in the White House with an intern on the First Lady's bed, and nobody knew about it? Reporters sure were bad at their jobs, back in the day.

How would a reporter have known about it? There are no reporters roaming around the White House at all hours, especially in the private quarters. The only reason anyone found out about Ms. Lewinsky is because she blabbed about it.

Nah, the press then believed that the President's private life was off-limits because it might prove to be a distraction from the reporting of actual governance.

Right wingnut reporting is all about the distraction away from actual reporting of governance.

But you could say Gary Hart started it all, by taunting reporters to catch him at cheating.

If you read the article, it all seems so dreamy and halcyon.

At least, with Kennedy, you can be fairly sure that she was a babe. Ol' Bill would have fucked anything with a slit.

Wait, a man had sex with a girl?

When did that happen?

Back then, ladies kept their mouths shut and didn't brag about their liasons to Linda Tripp's ilk.

Interesting the Jackie had her own bedroom in the WhiteHouse years.

I think it would be easier to compile a list of presidents who weren't fucking women other than their wives during their term in office. Gerald Ford. And maybe the guy died a month into his term, after giving an excessively long inauguration speech without a coat on.

I know Kennedy has a reputation and all, but should we be accepting this as fact? Is there evidence that it did in fact happen?

I learned about JFK's affairs in a regular history class in high school. Back then the press had a friendly, informal relationship with the president. They knew all about his affairs but elected not to report it. They didn't think it was news or anyone's business and frankly, I can't blame them.

Of course not, @9. But who cares? This isn't about truth, it's about titillation.

Catballou, I may well be wrong, but I believe that separate bedrooms for the President and First Lady were pretty much the norm until, surprisingly enough, the Ford Administration. I seem to remember some genteel titillation about the fact that they insisted on sharing a bed.

As for the Kennedy thing, maybe they did, and maybe they didn't. The man has been dead for fifty years. Jackie has been dead for at least ten (time does fly....) Who the hell cares?

@12: as i was born shortly before his assasination in November 1963, i take exception to your "dead for 50 years". it's barely been 48!

The fetishization of absolute monogamy is a very American thing. And it's amazing bullpucky. Geo. H. W. Bush had a mistress too, for godsakes. So who the fuck should care who you fuck, except those who are your intimates? It is certainly not the business of anyone else.

As to the JFK situation, if I had been a virgin working at the Whitehouse, it would have been fantastic to have it 'taken' by the president. Holy fuck what a story to have! Yay sex!

Dear Speaker Boehner,

Please appoint a special prosecutor to investigate what President Obama knew about this immediately.

i read the linked to article. this woman might be 68 years old, but it seems like emotionally she's still a 19 year old intern. that's pretty pathetic, imo. get over it, sister.

@8: You are referring to William Henry Harrison in 1841. He never had the pleasure of his wife Anna in the White House because she was to travel to Washington, but then he died.

Ok, let me guess. Usually when something like this comes out of the woodwork "all of a sudden" from Pravada, it means we're being set up for something. So cut to the chase, did Obama pork an intern? And now they want to make it all Kennedyesque?

In 1962, JFK was wearing a full-on back brace (and they were pretty primitive back then) and unable to pick up his little baby boy, John John, yet somehow he was banging everything in a skirt.

Provide some collaboration, Paulie Paulie, something you never, ever do.

Do something unique for a change, instead of like your Stranger brother, Kiley, you repeat the latest fiction you've read as if it's the god's-honest-truth.

Ever think about working for the Seattle Times? Or NPR? As long as one is completely unethical and amoral, you can have a job for life with NPR, Fox or CNN.

And that fits you to a tee, Paulie.

@27 Yeah, but wasn't he also heavily medicated as well? She could've caught him at a good time. But it really doesn't matter. Everybody but Paul Constant knows that reporters actually did a better job back then but would never report on something like an affair. If there was any philandering, it was probably well known.

Well, for starters, Jack Kennedy, wasn't a two-faced moralist. In the first presidential debate, Nixon sanctimoniously made reference to Harry Truman's bad language, and Kennedy suggested Mrs. Truman might be a better arbiter of Harry's cussing. Certainly reporters knew 'stuff', but gentlemen's agreements diplomatically prevailed. JFK's best friend for life, Lem Billings, was gay and had his own room in the White House. Facebook kiss-and-tell did not exist.

Old women never exaggerate or fantasize about boning famous, handsome, powerful men. Plus she has nothing to gain except a bunch of money and attention.

We were in the Lincoln bedroom when JFK seduced me. And, for the record, that back brace was a real turn-on!

Reporters weren't worse at their jobs back then, they werebetter, as in more ethical. They had the common decency not to report on stuff that the public didn't need to know, stuff that would only distract from the issues that were actually important.
