Newt Gingrich Says Brad Pitt Should Play Him in the Movie

Posted by on Wed, Feb 1, 2012 at 2:51 PM

In a radio interview yesterday, Newt Gingrich said Brad Pitt should play him in a movie about his life:

"No, I don't look like him at all," Gingrich said. "He's thinner, he's better looking, he's younger. But you asked me if I could have anyone who could play me in a movie, why not go for Brad Pitt?"

That...that could actually be the smartest thing Newt Gingrich has ever said, although I would have had to seriously consider voting for him if he picked Cate Blanchett.

Yeah, and I'D seriously consider voting for him if I believed even a little bit that he'd actually get us permanently on the moon. Sadly, we live in a world where all politicians are sweating filthy liars, and Republicans are double sweating filthy liars.

Upon further consideration, I can't think of a movie I'd like to see less than a biopic of Newt Gingrich, except maybe a biopic of Rick Santorum. The exception to that is if Bill Murray were playing Newt, or possibly Steve Martin, and the script was appropriately, viciously satirical. THAT I would watch.

@2: But I LIKE Pruitt Taylor Vince. I don't wish to associate him with the Newt.

Only if the bad guy dies a horrible death in the end.

Charlize Theron (and her makeup artist) won an Oscar. She could play Newt easy.

He seems more the Gary Busey type.

" I would have had to seriously consider voting for him if he picked Cate Blanchett."

With Tilda Swinton playing Paul, I would watch the shit out of this movie.

The only person who could have played Newt is Hervé Villechaize and he's dead!

Has no one said Rainn Wilson because it's too obvious? Because I would really like to see that movie. Maybe.

You gotta love how he says "he's better looking." Um, no Newt. You are not attractive at all. Brad Pitt isn't just better looking, he is very good looking, and you are the exact opposite. Inside and out.

You know, I'd never see it because I haven't found him funny in anything since the first Tenacious D album, but it occurs to me that Jack Black could really carry off the appropriate balance of pompous egotism, sleaze, and pudge.

@23 In that vein, John Belushi would be the perfect age and shape, and now I'm sad.

And if P.S. Hoffman or Paul Giomatti are both busy, may I suggest Toby Jones: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0429363/
