Today is lobby day for women's reproductive health and rights in Olympia, otherwise known as "Hug a Uterus" day. Sadly, it is also "Birth a Paper" day here at Stranger HQ, so I'm not quite on top of my drum-bangin', uterus huggin' game.
Nevertheless, hundreds of activists are in Olympia urging their legislators to support Rep. Eileen Cody’s (D-34) Reproductive Parity Act, which would mandate that all insurance policies that offered maternity coverage in Washington state to also cover elective abortions.
And look who's out there joining them!
Noticeably absent on the issue: Republican gubernatorial hopeful Rob McKenna, who still hasn't gotten around to reading the bill (let alone supporting it), presumably because he doesn't give a shit about women's health.
