Your Weekend Weather Forecast

Posted by on Fri, Jan 27, 2012 at 8:35 AM

There's a wall of fog outside the Stranger Weathercenter and everything's very cutely frosty. The National Weather Service reports "Patchy Fzg Fog," with a graphic of some dim car headlights and then a sunny sun, which translates to:

Today: Patchy freezing fog before 10am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Light and variable wind.

Then it's going to rain some on Saturday and more on Sunday and then until the end of time or maybe July, whichever gets here first. Up side: Good matinee or listening-to-records-and-doing-laundry weather.

What? You live somewhere else? Madness. Check your forecast here. (Denver: high of 37, with a 40 percent chance of snowflakes! Tonight, a low of FOURTEEN. We'll take the rain. Then again, your weekend is all sunshiney suns, with a high of 58 on Monday.)

Everyone please remember that freezing fog is the greatest weather threat to individual safety in Washington state, before wind, snow, or rain. This is the best and fastest way to get a black ice skating rink and crack your head on the sidewalk or send your car into donuts on the freeway.

You can upgrade that to a 100% chance of snow. It's coming down like a motherfucker.

Cliff Mass is reporting that Washington State will be covered in a 3 foot sheet of ice, bringing a new Younger Dryas period to Seattle.

Remember, Santorum was the idiot who wanted to shut down the NOAA (which runs the NWS).

@4, Paul wants to shut it down too. The difference is, Paul means it; Santorum's bogus anti-governmentism isn't even skin-deep -- he was the biggest pork barreller in Washington when he was a senator. If he got elected (I know, but bear with me, if) he would immediately find a high-rolling crony to put in charge of NOAA, who would start using it to issue Low Christ Pressure Alerts.

Ron Paul hates the Mercer Mess, and he wants you to pay to fix it, so that the billionaires can ride safely.

But ice - he's good with that - just allows private enterprise to turn it into a skating rink.

Or a toboggan run.

@4 - I'm sure Rick Perry would like to shut it down too, it's just that he can never remember its name.
