Since When Did Financial Mismanagement Become a Crime?

Posted by on Thu, Jan 26, 2012 at 1:52 PM

One gets the feeling that if we regulated our banking industry the way the Swiss regulate their soccer clubs...

Swiss authorities say they have arrested the Chechen owner of Neuchatel Xamax, hours after the soccer club said it would file for bankruptcy.

Geneva prosecutors said in a statement Thursday that Chechen businessman Bulat Chagaev was arrested to prevent “financial mismanagement.”

... we wouldn't have a banking industry.

Neuchatel Xamax is an anti-anxiety cheese that I highly recommend in these troubling times.

Maybe he's an admirer of Hedge funds and expects a bailout.

well if i get into your taxi cab and you drive on the sidewalk and catch air over a hill going 90 i could probably sue you for reckless endangerment so maybe this should apply to all professions where on person entrusts another with their life or resources.

Yes, after the fact. But are you willing to be arrested in order to prevent you from driving that way at some unknown time in the future?

Shame the Swiss banks won't give back all that Jewish gold they helped preyed from your people, eh Goldy?

We just need to lower taxes on non-productive hedge fund managers so they can destroy our economy faster, right?

Personally, I say we cage them with triple sex offenders in cage matches - two men enter, one man returns to prison.

I guess there's a reason why Mitt Romney made his millions gaming the system here, but then stashed his money in a Swiss bank account.

Cheapo editing to make your point?! I guess you linked to a slightly longer note that mentions the guy has been under investigation for fraud. The simple temporal order in the short AP story suggests cause and effect to you but you're a bit dull or a little manipulative.

@1. Do NOT crack that stuff up. Hard cheese leads to hard crime.

Swiss banking fraud is a redundant redundancy. All three words, "Swiss," "banking," and "fraud" go together like ham and cheese.
