Music for Airports

Posted by on Thu, Jan 26, 2012 at 1:39 PM

There's a party to celebrate music in airports on January 28 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the baggage claim area of Sea-Tac International Airport. It's called the "Sea-Tac Airport Music Initiative PlayNetwork," and there are bands (Dusty 45’s, Fly Moon Royalty, Carrie Clark & the Lonesome Lovers, Recess Monkey) that are totally swell. There will also be speeches from Port of Seattle Commissioner John Creighton and Mayor Mike McGinn. That's all well and good.

But this is all I want to hear at the airport.

Eno's Music for Airports - if that was played in terminals, a lot of people would miss their planes - and not mind a bit :)

This sounds nice and all, but it still doesn't answer my question: HOW ARE MAGIC TRICKS PERFORMED?

I had a change of planes at OHare back in 2010 and heard this in the tunnel connecting two of the terminals. I wanted to stay there.

Speaking of, check out this awesomeness:

I love that Sean (Decibel Fest) is working on bringing local and interesting music to the masses at Sea-Tac. Will probably reach more people than a radio station, and that's awesome.

"Hi, this is Eddie Vedder. If you're like me, you're wondering where to light up your next cigarette. So this is a reminder that SeaTac is a nonsmoking facility. Also a reminder that if you were really like me, you'd be puffing away on a private jet right now."

This won't work unless they give out complimentary razor blades.

In the baggage area? Wouldn't the show look better in that big open glass area with the hanging airplanes?
