We'll Be Live-Slogging the Debate Tonight

Posted by on Mon, Jan 23, 2012 at 12:23 PM

It's going to be a busy week for live-Slogs, with Republican debates tonight and Thursday and the State of the Union tomorrow night. I hope you're doing finger-aerobics so you can keep up! Tonight's debate holds a special place in my heart. That's because it's the first debate after South Carolina, which is the state that made this ad possible:

Newt Gingrich is framing himself as a master debater. That means he has to bring it tonight. He's not the only one: As Mitt Romney's campaign short-circuits, the possibility that a tiny piece of Romney's humanity might escape out of his mouth by accident has never been higher. And Rick Santorum is going to have to work double-time to remind people he's in the race. Plus: Ron Paul is going to be on a tear about the TSA replacing his son with a Manchurian Candidate. The possibility for a campaign-ending mistake has never been higher, my friends. Tune in to Slog tonight at 6 pm Seattle time.

Heh. Masterdebater. And here I thought that was why he kept moving on to new women, so he didn't have to do that himself.

"a tiny piece of Romney's humanity might escape out of his mouth by accident"

Wait, that would mean Romney actually has some humanity. Now I'm confused.

The only TV broadcast of tonight's debate (that I've found) is at 9 pm. If we're live-slogging the debate at 6 pm (when it's actually live), is there a simultaneous TV broadcast we can watch as it happens?

Cool.

Don't forget the 43rd Dems party at the Red Door in Fremont tomorrow 5-8 for the SOTU.

They have pitchers of hard cider.

Have to admit I was avoiding all of this primary business up 'til now, but it has gotten really really good. This is the real deal - Republican Torture Porn unfolding in real time and I say "bring it on."

Your dislike of Ron Paul is childish and ill informed. I don't like the guy, but he may be the only real republican on the ballot. Your notions that he is wacky calls into question your own adherence to the notion that nonconventional thinking is worth consideration when accounting for the terrible state that both parties are in. But I guess, being a mealy mouth spineless so called liberal removes you from criticism. After all, its just fine if the instrument of your demise has a (D) in front of their name. It's makes the ass rape a little more tolerable, huh.

Anyone know any bars that are going to be playing the debate? Drinking at home and yelling at the TV is starting to freak out my neighbors.
