Roots Grow Over Mexico City

Posted by on Fri, Jan 20, 2012 at 11:04 AM

The artist, Rivaelino, financed it himself, so the government couldn't say no to a huge system of roots—a sculptural installation all over the capital—growing up and around, snaking through, Mexico City.

Very cool video of the project here, and images and story by the Associated Press here.

These barely look like "roots," they look more like half-dried ropes of bathroom caulk.

They look cool. It's hilarious to see them wrapped around that horrible old embarrassing statue of Carlos IV.

the artwork on the artists website look like they were pulled from the ads in a 1996 issue of SCULPTURE magazine.
