It Never Gets Old (or Funny)

Posted by on Thu, Jan 19, 2012 at 11:29 AM

Right-wing attempts at comedy, how I love thee. From NewsBusted, "the Media Research Center's comedy show, with jokes about politics, Hollywood and liberal media bias."

The first three seconds! The laugh track! LOVE. (And the final joke is actually okay.)

Is it possible to be conservative and funny?

Wow, her inflection is.... something. You're right that that last joke was funny but, man, her delivery is terrible.

You'd think they could get a real comedienne, not an out-of-work porn actress.

Needs a Buh-Dum-CHH! sound after every attempted joke.

The weird edits... how many takes did they have to splice together for... what, seven or eight jokes (I'm not watching it again)?

Harlan Ellison said once something like right-wing humor isn't funny because topical political humor lies in pointing out absurdities, and if they tried that they'd wind up shelling their own positions.

For conservatives who claim to love family, the country and its institutions, they're pretty disgraceful towards the First Lady. Worse, even, than I remember them being towards Chelsea Clinton.

Do they rag on Malia and Sasha, too?

It's funny because George Bush approved the bailout. Fucking hilarious irony.

Is this supposed to be their answer to John Stewart and Colbert report ? The canned laugh track is really sad.

In a head to head, I am not sure which is sadder, this or the pedo-purity bear video.

This is what happens when you pick targets for jokes, rather than let the jokes write themselves. The wingnuts that put together these kind of shows just don't understand how political comedy is written. There are plenty of Dems providing awesome material for a right wing comic, but they keep letting their agendas get in the way of the joke.

Wait a sec, when I'm spun out on meth or coke I need a drink or several to even me out. If conservatives ever dabbled in the devil's dandruff, they'd know that.

@5 hah! Her make up looks like it was applied by a newbie drag queen, maybe it's part of the "comedy".

she's like a comedy robot! that "let's get started" at the beginning is just...surreal.
