Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: Olympia's 14.75 inches

I dont know!
  • You just got spanked, Seattle

Slog tipper (and photo taker) Diana Arens writes, "It has stopped snowing for now."

Finally someone who is honest about how many inches... oh never mind, you're talking about something else.

Size isn't everything. It's how you use that snow.

Could be a snowdrift, so could be misleading

14.75 inches? No wonder Lacey has slammed her back door shut today.

Just to put things into perspective, you could be in Valdez, Alaska- where they (so far) have received over 19. FEET.

@3 I don't think I took this photo in a snowdrift. I first took a measurement on my flat patio table in the back yard, then I took this photo of 14.75" in a more scenic spot of my yard. There's a lot of snow in Olympia, and it just started up again, lightly. Even the street snowboarders have gone inside to get warm.

The depth of snow today is irrelevant, since by this time tomorrow the entirety of Western Washington will have become the world's biggest skating rink...

Trust me. That photo is legit. We got a ton of snow last night and now I have glaciers of snow sliding off my metal roof.

14" is quite a bit. Most I've ever experienced in a days time was 30" 3 winters ago. Storm hit us and within 24 hours we got over 2 feet and the entire city shut down. It was insane.

Yes, but did they SHUT EVERYTHING DOWN like sissy Seattle did?

@10:

Oh, don't be such a sissy's sissy; not EVERYTHING in Seattle is shut down. I got mail delivery to my office today; the chiropractor next door to me is open; Odd Fellows & Cafe Vita were open this morning when I walked by, as was the Harvard QFC; hell even my gym was open this morning. And that was just what I spotted walking between Squire Park and my office on the west side of CapHill. I'm sure there are a lot of other places that are open as well, if you bothered to venture out and check.

So, stop hyperventilating and go outside and play, already!

Fourteen inches is what Snow White got, but not all at once.

First we got the snow and then it turned to heavy rain and high winds. We're on to flood watch and advisory, the creek near my home has jumped its bank and is still rising, and now we have some trees down. Life can be such an adventure at times. Enjoy the snow.

A snow job of Olympic proportions... (sorry, couldn't resist)

I got 15" of snow at my house in Olympia today (measured with a ruler too!); some of my colleagues had 18 to more than 20 inches of snow. It was NOT in drifts! No paper, no mail, no driving, no snowplows. AND no work yesterday, today or tomorrow or school for my child. Hooray! The best part is that I still have power, heat, and water. Whew.
