Wisconsin Democrats needed to collect 540,208 signatures by today's deadline to prompt a recall election of anti-worker Republican Governor Scott Walker. That's 25 percent of the total votes cast in the 2010 gubernatorial election. A pretty tall order.

Today, they turned in over one million signatures spread across 152,000 pages of recall petitions, only slightly less than the 1.1 million votes Walker received in November, 2010. Wow.

State Dems also turned in another 900,000 signatures on recall petitions for Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and four Republican state senators, all well above the signature threshold necessary.

It's gonna be another fun year in Wisconsin politics, and a possible augur for next November.
