Now that Occupy Seattle has rejected nonviolence at their demonstrations, they've also announced some upcoming events! Their first plan is to confront the police. What could go wrong? On Saturday, Occupy is holding a "Bring Down Diaz" march. They'll meet at 23rd Avenue and East Union Street for a "speakout" about experiences with police brutality before marching to the East Precinct. From the event's Facebook page: "Bring signs, your passion, and determination."

They're also working with other groups on two events next weekend around money in politics. Saturday, January 20 Seattle will join the nationwide Occupy the Courts day at the Federal Courthouse downtown. And then on Sunday, January 21 the coalition will hold a People Ignited Against Citizens United rally that will start at Westlake and then march to the Jackson Federal Building. Now we're talking. Given that it's primary season, Occupy Seattle and it's coalition have picked a smart time to highlight Citizens United vs. FEC and the gross influence of money in politics.
