The Answer to the Burning Question, "Who Will Todd Palin Endorse?"

Posted by on Mon, Jan 9, 2012 at 2:30 PM

Sarah Palin's husband has endorsed Newt Gingrich. However, the erstwhile First Dude of Alaska is very clear about the fact that his endorsement does not imply a Sarah Palin endorsement.

To you here this doesn't seem like much, but I grew up in rural parts of NY and PA (and then later other states), and this endorsement actually carries a lot of weight with many independents in NH.

But then, both my brothers have been injured in skidoo accidents and we've all been hunters, so I don't expect you'd understand the appeal in Seattle.

@1, a classic Will post. The special knowledge, the "I grew up there" (but not really), the aggrieved, "you wouldn't understand" non sequitur, the reliance upon coded messages -- but a code that only Will knows, rendering the message unintelligible.

In reality, nobody in NH knows or cares who Todd Palin is.

It is funny to see the Palins, who are nominally associated with the Tea Party, gravitating towards the super-rich long-time Beltway insider and lobbyist. It's just more proof that their ideological schtick is just that, and they are in fact really only motivated by rage. Like Newt.

Isn't she an evangelical? She and her husband are one and he is the head of the family and she has to submit to her husband, so what he says goes.

@2 wrong. If you actually followed stuff about this, you'd know that half the audience at the local chamber meeting where it was announced erupted in applause.

But hey, trust your internets. They're as safe as your "organic" food that's actually from China.

And if only cost Newt one kick ass snowmobile for Todds endorsement.

@4, so you're saying that a pro-Gingrich audience at a Gingrich event applauded when Gingrich announced something? MY GOD THAT IS CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE.

I love your constant "internet" digs, too, because they presuppose that you're not on the internet too, and that you "followed stuff like this" in a deeper, more personal way than is available to me or anyone else who isn't Will in Seattle. You know about this rapturous applause...how exactly? You were there? You...read about it somewhere? Somewhere that's not on the internet, but much, much more authoritative and reliable than "the internet", to which only you have access -- the Famous Will in Seattle Firewall!

I think what is important here is that we don't know who Bristol will endorse yet.

It does make good business sense to sell Todd's endorsement first - now they can sell Sarah's endorsement separately, while Todd's would have little value if Sarah's had already gone.

Is anyone really going to change a vote because of what Todd says? I doubt it.

@8 no, the audience at a local chamber of commerce meeting. Presumably pro-Mittens.

Seriously, though, I still have many friends I grew up with that live in rural areas, hunt, fish, ski, skidoo, ride trucks in rivers (highly recommended, very fun), many of which are fairly conservative.

There's this thing called FB. And chat. Look into it, nimnuts.

I'm pretty sure this isn't very good for the rivers. Also not very good for the trucks, though I care rather less.

The ever-increasing amount of pathological falsehoods that unfurl when you get Will in Seattle in the middle of a tirade is astounding.

There's just something so perversely joyful about witnessing him having to invent deeper and more elaborate fictions and trying to maintain the integrity of the whole lie. Then, it is a true anti-climax when he is forced to end it with "I heard it on Facebook."

So does this mean that Newt is a secret secessionist too?

@12, so you slam me for relying on the internet, then turn around and accuse me of not knowing about "FB" and "chat". You technical wizard you!

Unless he announcing that he's doing porn, I'm not interested in anything Todd Palin has to say.
