This video is 20 minutes long, but it contains enough amazing moments to make it well worth your while. At a raucous Saturday night meeting on Whidbey Island, Democratic State Senator Mary Margaret Haugen, who is considered one of the potential key votes on the Governor's same sex marriage bill, got hit with just about every single argument for voting yes on same sex marriage—including an argument from a conservative Republican dad who told Haugen that his gay son deserves full civil rights.

Sen. Haugen wouldn't budge, and repeatedly said that she believes the issue requires a public vote.

Which is weird, because—as her constituents kept pointing out—voting "yes" on the same sex marriage bill basically ensures a public vote, as any same sex marriage law passed by the legislature this session will undoubtedly end up on the November ballot.

Someone needs to sit Haugen down and calmly explain this to her. Meanwhile, please enjoy Haugen's constituents not-so-calmly trying to get through to her on the matter.

UPDATE: Apparently there's five minutes of video missing from the above, and it shows Sen. Haugen choking up about gay suicide and promising to at least consider her constituents' pleas.
