Hello Kitty: The Restaurant

Posted by on Fri, Jan 6, 2012 at 2:05 PM

With my sincerest apologies for the world in which we live: a photo series, which also includes the Hello Kitty maternity suite and theme park. Also: Hello Kitty bride and groom—you cannot unsee that.

Don't get it, but then again, Hello Kitty didn't exist in the US when I was a kid.

Is this any worse than being married by an Elvis impersonator -- or at Disneyland?

No worse than our Disneyland.

I would say less bad, even, than Disneyland.

Sure, most of it was no worse than Disney. But I found the HK maternity suite to be pretty disturbing. *shudder*

They forgot the condoms:

might slow down the Hello Kitty Wedding to Hello Kitty maternity suite path.

Thank you for not putting the pics on your actual blog entry. You have done many of us a service while still making us all sufficiently aware of this latest small travesty.

Amen, Tingleyfeelin. My own personal nightmare fuel was the Hello Kitty Dream Wedding. No Hello Kitty Dream Divorce Court?

@5 really? It was all pink and blue - looked like a totally normal place to put babies, to me. Possibly the most appropriate venue for such decor.

Whatever, haterz. Hello Kitty 4 Lyfe!

@1 Were you alive in the 70's? She's been around the US since at least 1976, maybe a little earlier. I think she was invented around 1974 or 75. There was even a cartoon on TV!

No apologies necessary, Bethany. That was awesome.

I do not see the bad in this. Kittens. Kittens with pink bows!

I spent time in Tama Center district of Tokyo, aka "Hell-o Kitty Land" and there was even a Sanrio Puroland theme park about 2 blocks from my hotel, where they take the children to be indoctrinated by life sized doll costumed actors. Ugh.
