Ai Weiwei's Latest Is A Pile of 1,200 Bicycles

Posted by on Wed, Jan 4, 2012 at 2:56 PM

The installation is called Forever Bicycles, and it's on display at the highest point of a museum in Taiwan.

Vashon Island curator Jack Strubbe has a better title: "The Art of Critical Mass."

Via Fastco Design.

Flipping through the slide show of the Taipei show, I feel like, once again, I'd be more interested in Ai's blog and political writings/activities than his standalone works—despite the flashy allegory of the 'cycles.

That James Gaddy review is pretentious bullshit. My comic artist/illustrator girlfriend read it over my shoulder and told me, "I feel like that reviewer just came on my face and walked away without saying thank you". I feel pretty much the same way.
