Governor Gregoire Declares Her Support for Marriage Equality!

Posted by on Tue, Jan 3, 2012 at 3:58 PM

Well, okay, that's not what her press release says. But Governor Chris Gregoire, who has refused to embrace full marriage equality in the past, announces via email today that she "will address the issue of marriage equality" tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. She's not going to reaffirm here hedging, we can safely assume. She'll come out for full marriage equality. Finally.

C'mon, you know as well as anybody she'll say what she always does: "Sack up and bring me a bill to sign, motherfuckers!"

Does this mean she'll veto the parts that don't comply with American Citizens being legally tortured?

Or will she just call "Domestic Partnerships" marriage with no rights and whenever the feds disagree she'll roll over like a log?

Oh no, it's like the Mayan Calendar predicted, the end of the world; when Gay folk can marry.

Now that she's a lame duck facing her last legislative session, sure, why not?

A bully pulpit does no good when you don't start preaching until the congregation is singing the closing hymn.

I concur with everyone else. Looks like she's trying to build a "legacy" or some shit.

Such a brave, brave stand for equality.

/sarcasm

Better than a prospective governor McKenna, who would undoubtedly veto it. So better late than never, I suppose.
