Gun-Crazy Country: The Killer on the Mountain

Posted by on Mon, Jan 2, 2012 at 9:13 AM

Seattle Times:

Nearly eight hours earlier, King County sheriff's deputies responded to shots fired at a party in Skyway, where an early-morning session of "show and tell" with guns among several armed partygoers devolved into a shootout, according to detectives.

Four people were shot, and three people fled the scene. One of them was identified as Benjamin Colton Barnes, 24.

Barnes is a person of interest in the murder of the park ranger.

Why hasn't slog even mentioned the shoot-out between black gang members in downtown Seattle on Saturday night?

2 gang members of color were shot!

Charles, given your recent experiences in the American Alps that are actually on the water in Canada, perhaps you should strap on some snowshoes and a oversize pseudo-intellectual quill and get your ass up there to find this man. Maybe print off some pics from the internet of chicks you'd like to boink as a icebreaker?

Not on the same angle as troll 1, when reading the original ST articles, I was wondering what kind of party this was / who these people were, and yes, knowing race would have painted some kind of picture. Was it just another gang shooting (just another because that is chronic), or was this something else, like a particularly deranged shooter. (I think not every shooter of people is crazy, just sometimes immoral.)

Basically what we have here is a story about a PTSD vet. That's what's compelling.

We will be enjoying the delicious fruits of the Iraq War for decades to come. There are a million PTSD patients walking around; the ones who get treatment will cost us another trillion dollars; the ones who don't will cost us many lives.

@1 Actually, if the NRA hadn't overwhelmingly won the lobbying war in the last 30 years, we might very well have dramatically lower rates of firearms on the street and available to gangs than now, but the NRA opposes all efforts to control the flow of firearms into the stream of commerce and to the broad public.
