I ended today's Morning News post with a clip from the first episode of this season's 24/7: The Road To The NHL Winter Classic, where goalie Ilya Bryzgalov explained why he's fascinated with the universe. Last week's episode brought more quotable moments from Bryz, which I meant to post on Slog at the time, but then I was distracted by all the shiny things on the Christmas tree. Anyway, apparently Bryzgalov thinks his husky dog is "basically a hot girl."

I hate the Flyers and I hate the Rangers. But I totally love 24/7; it's such an amazing look at professional hockey. And Bryz brings the genius soundbites. I don't think anyone was as amusing in last year's 24/7 (and I say this as a diehard Penguins fan).

Episode 2 had so many amazing moments. Tortorella and that kid was contrived, but when the Rangers score with less than a second left, my heart melted. The scene in the referees room taught me a lot about the game. I loved last year, but this year is really phenomenal.

Funniest quote I've read from Bryzgalov of an opposing team at a major global tournament who vanquished Bryzgalov's group 7-3: "They came out like gorillas out of a cage."

Could we organize a Stranger-Fangirl trip to Vancouver to watch a game together? We could stay downtown in a place with HBO and watch the show pre/post game. I am serious. I have no one with whom I can go to a game. It would be akin to Slog Happy Hour in VanCity!

I'm a diehard Rangers fan but the Bryz moments have been some of my favorite of the show. I almost feel bad that I'll be hoping that he chokes on Monday.

@4 I would totally be in for a Stranger-Fangirl trip to BC (or even a Stranger-Fangirl meetup in Seattle).

If he could just take over a game, I'd be much happier. Unfortunately he's more than likely starting the WC. He's playing like crap. That last game against Tampa? 5 goals on 16 shots. 3 where completely his fault. The rest of the team played stellar. Tampas goalie took over that game. Time for Russian Bob.
