Or perhaps a tasteful little maple leaf?

He means "brown". "Foreign" is Republican for "brown".

"My, what a lovely foreign suit you have on today, Mr Perry!"

Yep. Although we actually have lots of brown people. And then the whole legal gay marriage thing. Oh, and a federal government whose constitution actually gives "God" full credit for everything, and then declines to shove that Christian god down everyone else's throats. Perry's head would explode if he ever learned the first thing about us. Tell him he can have all the filthy tar sands oil he wants but he will have to gay marry a brown Canadian. In French.

Why oh WHY is America the laughing stock of the WORLD? Oh dear Santa what have we done to deserve these lumps of coal?

THIS.
He does realize that the 'white' in great white north refers to snow, right?

I can see why he'd want to forget a progressive, modern country like Canada. It's a reminder how incredibly backward Republicans are.

Well, Canuckistan is almost America. At least they want to be. Except when they hate us, of course.

Canada is slowly becoming everything they diss about the U.S. under Harper. Which is amusing to watch since they're always so smug. Sorta fun actually.

@1, I think a brown star would be an amusing addition to the flag.

@9: I, for one, very much miss being a smug Canadian. Thanks a lot, Prime Minister Harper.

@10, this is about Perry, not Santorum.

Oh how I wish Rick Mercer would meet with some of the GOP candidates. With the sad death of Joe Bodolai, the CBC sure could use another ratings-spiking comedy special.

Yeah, but is Canada really a foreign country? Perry probably regards western Canadians as "Americans-lite", whereas those French-speaking easterners are not real Canadians -- they're definitely foreigners.

(Gee, do ya think I pissed off a few of our northern neighbors just now ...)

I want to laugh. Really I do. But after this many times you get the feeling he can't help it. He's an idiot. A sad idiot, but still an idiot. Maybe its, I don't know, congenital.

Why is he such an idiot? Because he's from Texas.

Sorry to anyone reading who's actually from Texas (congratulations, BTW, on managing to teach yourself to read in spite of the obvious handicaps), but Texans should not be allowed to run for any federal office. We've tried it in the past, and it clearly doesn't work.

It seems to me the culture of that state just nurtures sociopaths like Perry, Bush and Paul. These people have lived too long alone in the fields of the lord, running strangers off their land with their rifles, and have no interest in, or understanding of humanity and social imperatives.

LBJ is the outstanding exception that proves the rule. I guess he was a quick learner.

I move for a constitutional amendment.

@GasparFagel Seems like you're throwing out Molly Ivins and Anne Richards out as well, who were damn good progressives.

I'm a Texan, I hold a degree in Engineering, and I left the state to live in Seattle. I find your comment to be offensive.

But I guess I'm too much of a dumb hick to understand your comment, eh?
