What Do You Think of the Prometheus Trailer?

Posted by on Fri, Dec 23, 2011 at 1:10 PM

After a week of bullshit PR buildup, the trailer for Ridley Scott's new sci-fi movie, Prometheus, is out. It sure does look like he's revisiting his Alien universe with this one:

None of your options is worthy of a vote. This is a boner. This is a boner like I haven't had since the age I was when the art from Alien made the cover of Omni magazine, and we nerds passed it around like other boys did Penthouse.

Why is it that in movies, whenever there something tall and huge is about to fall on and fatally squish some of the characters, the characters always run in the same direction as the falling object, thus staying in its path? Clearly the correct path is to run perpendicular out of the path of the object.

My hearts desire for the Alien films was a film that explored the actual origins of the species, so I'm totally looking forward to this one

As an ALIEN geek, I felt my nips get hard at the brief shot of the alien cockpit at 0:44.

#2 because the movie would be over in 10 minutes. Really dude. Otherwise I like people running around in a panic looking into the camera.

Will never forget standing in queue outside the UA 150 in '79, yakking away in line with friends when from inside the cinema came the sound of hundreds of people simultaneously screaming in terror. The entire line went silent for a good five seconds or so, and then everyone said, "Oooooooooo."

Can't wait.

Paul. It's a prequel. It's kinda supposed to look like he's revisiting his Alien universe with this one.

I like the way it echoes the original Alien trailer. I suspect this movie will be better than Alien^3, which was the only Alien movie I didn't like.

Noomi Rapace sends shivers down my spine. Also, yes, boner.

I see a few close-in action sequences shot with shaky-cam. Aside from that, it's nice to see quality camera work coming back into vogue.

Obvious reasons to be cautious: involvement of the Lost screenwriters, the fact that Ridley Scott hasn't made an interesting movie in well over a decade.

But fuck it, I'm in.

(My money is on him revisiting the fakeout of the first Alien movie: Idris Elba will be the only survivor.)

Alien was the scariest film I'd ever seen. Great that he's revisiting that universe: plus Elba, Rapace, Thieron? Wow. Go Ridley.

Gotta say; Huge girl boner!
Ridley sci-fi plus that succubus Rapace... They had me at "Prometheus", and by the end of the trailer I squealed and came a little... Plus a little Fassbender and Elba to sprinkle on top. Total Spoolsh!!

Now I have to wait 6 months, hope it's not another Cloverfield though [huge buildup, months of anticipation for a moderately alright movie]
