The Smithsonian offer an explanation, plus a nod to sworn testimony verifying that the tradition continues:

What a dumb post. There's nothing else open on Christmas Day. Duh.

Good heavens, 5280, put another shot of brandy in your coffee. There's actually a little more to it than that, which the article delightfully explains.

What a terrific laugh she has. Is it possible for a gay man to develop a crush on a lesbian? (Oh, wait. Jodie Foster. Never mind.)

I think the real question is: Why don't the Chinese celebrate Christmas?

If it is open, we are going to a Vietnamese restaurant on the 25th.

My boss and her husband are going to Chinatown on Christmas. Because that's what the NYC Jews do; they don't stop at Chinese food they go all the way to Chinatown.

My favorite Christmas tradition is the annual retelling of the story of the Jews who eat Chinese food on Christmas Day.

That was an actual question during her confirmation hearing? She should have told him to go fuck himself.

I have to go to the airport on christmas day. It's becoming a tradition to pickup family members. I used to go to the movies but that is becoming a lost tradition now. Now we go to a movie a few days after christmas.

I think she handled that useless and very stupid question very well. I probably would have told the guy off.

You know, I'm actually trying to find a pizza joint open on Christmas. Slightly off topic, but might y'all have any suggestions?
