Today in Inspired, Fully Justified Bitchery

Posted by on Thu, Dec 22, 2011 at 12:39 PM

Yesterday, Minnesota State Senator Amy Koch took a break from her pushing-for-a-constitutional-amendment-to-outlaw-gay-marriage schedule to admit to and apologize for an adulterous affair with a Senate staffer.

Today brings an official response from the gays. As City Pages reports:

The gay and lesbian community of Minnesota has issued a letter of apology to recently resigned Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch for ruining the institution of marriage and causing her to stray from her husband and engage in an "inappropriate relationship."

"On behalf of all gays and lesbians living in Minnesota, I would like to wholeheartedly apologize for our community's successful efforts to threaten your traditional marriage," reads the letter from John Medeiros. "We apologize that our selfish requests to marry those we love has cheapened and degraded traditional marriage so much that we caused you to stray from your own holy union for something more cheap and tawdry."

Read the full report on Minnesota's apologetic gays here, and thank you, Slog tippers Erin and Danielle.

I think you mean Minnesota, not Missouri.

Actually, it's kind of nice to read of a female politician being caught with her "dress up" vs. a male one with his "pants down". Adds a little variety.

Don't these homos know it's a God-given right of us heteros, and only heteros, to cheat on their spouses? If God wanted them to be capable of adultery he would have said they could get married.

@5 Wow. That's sexist.
Why can't the man be wearing a dress?

@7 I think you need to adjust your sarcasm meter.

@8 I've read that I'm supposed to use the sarcasm/jokey font, but I'm not capable of all that formatting...

I'm not fully convinced that they're sincere in their apology.

As wonderful as that letter is, a couple additional clicks showed an amazing follow-up story about how the MNGOP is fast-cycling through scandals trying to replace Amy Koch, entitled "The MNGOP All-Scandal Team: Can't anybody here play this game?"

It covers the three candidates who withdrew from contention for the MNGOP chair.

That is the most heart warming apology letter I've ever read. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.
