There Is an Ad on My Banana

What is the meaning of this? If your second-breakfast banana is not a sacred space, what is?

UPDATE: Copy editor Anna Minard points out that her orange also has an ad on it: "Win a College Education." But she notes it is, in fact, more of PSA than an advertisement.

A PSA is just an ad for something that doesn't make anyone any money.

After years of blissful ad-free reading of the mobile Slog version it looks like Anthony figured a way to get them plugged in, which I think accounts for banana ads not shocking me.

LMFAO - I noticed this on my banana last night.... I didn't think I'd be the only one (slightly) disturbed by this.....

I have a sticker from a banana from 2001 that was an ad. It's around the first time I can recall seeing ad stickers on fruit. (It was for Ask Jeeves.)
