Newt Gingrich Tells Gay Iowan to Vote for Obama

Posted by on Tue, Dec 20, 2011 at 4:04 PM

It's official! Republicans don't want the gay vote:

Oskaloosa, Ia. – Newt Gingrich told a gay man and longtime resident of Oskaloosa here today that he should vote for President Obama.

“I asked him if he’s elected, how does he plan to engage gay Americans. How are we to support him? And he told me to support Obama,” said Scott Arnold, an associate professor of writing at William Penn University.

Talk about putting all your cards on the table.

I wonder how the Log Cabin Republicans will take this one.

Hey, props to The Newt. Finally one of them is man enough to admit that gay votes just aren't good enough for them. A gay vote only counts as 3/5s of a hetero vote, right?

Well shit. That makes Newt the only truth-teller in the whole pack.

:(

I really think that they should lay ALL of their cards on the table and level with people: they are facists and they want a facist state - where only the select few have rights and freedoms, and the rest of the population lives in fear and want.

This would make an excellent candidate for The Daily Show's Holy Shit, You Got Some Huge, Hairy Motherfucking Balls On You segment!

Well, I guess that is one piece of advice from Newt that I will take.

Done.

Newt doesn't give a fuck--Iowa only has 6 electoral college votes.

Maybe now gay Republicans will get it: at this phase THE GOP DOESN'T WANT YOU.

They have written anti-gay goals INTO THEIR PLATFORM. Maybe in 1985 you could vote for either party because neither addressed gay issues. Maybe in 2025 you will have that luxury again. But right now? The GOP has decided to trade in gay and gay-supportive votes for bigoted ones.

Those log cabin fools will only vote for their own financial interests. I've never met a gay republican who didn't have money. They don't give a real damn about the civil rights or equality issues. They only care about paying less taxes. Just like any other rich republican.

At least he's honest, for once.

Now as soon as he starts telling women, blacks, hispanics, workers and the elderly the same thing he will actually be honest

Maybe this is because I am too young to remember the time before the religious right hijacked the Republican party (I'm 39), but I have never understood how gays (or hippies, punks, pot heads, moonshiners, and porn moguls) could support that party. Isn't interjecting religious code into law another form of intrusive government?
