B&O Espresso Now Reportedly NOT Closing at the End of the Month

Posted by on Mon, Dec 19, 2011 at 3:09 PM

First seattlepi.com said that B&O Espresso was closing forever at the end of the month.

Now Eater Seattle says the B&O will stay open "through all or most of 2012."

The rumors of closure have been going around for approximately forever—in 2008, a bartender said, "They said two years, but they've been saying that for five years."

Wake me up when it's over.

Whew... now I can reinstate "dessert out" into my monthly budget for 2012.
Silly anecdote: I ordered poached pear in red wine at B&O, and my kid said "hey mom that looks like my nutsack when I was born!" and the server lost it. Bil Keane missed out on this gem.

What's that line from The Importance of Being Earnest? Oh, yes.

I think it is high time that [B&O Espresso] made up his mind whether he was going to live or to die. This shilly-shallying with the question is absurd.

Is this like that carpet store?

I have always been a fan of great places deciding to just Bumbery it.

They've been mostly dead to me since they dropped the Mocha Chew cookie from the dessert lineup. (Although, pro-tip: with a bulk pre-order the baker will sometimes still make them.)

my sister is the pastry chef at the b&o and has been for 25 years. at one point they were closing due to the bldg being sold to developers this time it was just from lack of business but some finacial adjustments were made and now they can offer delish for another year.

The first rumors I heard of B & O being shut down was back in 1998.

Thank god. It is the best place for breakfast on the hill.

I can see the "regrets" section in they year's end issue: We regret not going to the B&O in 2011... But at least we can try to make it there next year!
