Win a Fabulous Overnight With Fabulous Dinner at Cedarbrook Lodge!

Slog has now raised $19,219.66 for Northwest Harvest in the Slog vs. Gawker Holiday Charity Challenge!

The awesomeness is staggering!

Cedarbrook Lodge, a posh retreat on 18 acres of restored wetlands in Sea-Tac, agrees on the awesomeness thing—they're giving us an overnight getaway, including a $100 gift certificate for their reportedly excellent on-site Copperleaf Restaurant (chef Mark Bodinet has worked for Thomas Keller at the French Laundry—faaaancy!).

Aaaaand, so you don't have to worry about driving, Uber car service will take you there and back (they've donated $100 worth of transport in one of their sleek black cars).

All you have to do is contribute (any amount counts!) to the Slog vs. Gawker Holiday Charity Challenge between now and tomorrow at midnight, then forward your receipt to ih8gawker@thestranger.com, and you will be entered to win!

Cedarbrook Lodge: You could be here!

And! For those of you who are keeping tracking of who's winning what, the winners of the Dan Savage and Fran Lebowitz tickets and the night at the Benson in Portland are Bill R. and Tony S., respectively. Congratulations to both!

I did an overnight event at Cedarbrook this summer. The food is indeed excellent, and the facility is wonderful. If you are from that area, you may not even know the place existed ( I sure didn't). The story is that the place was built as a executive retreat for WaMu. It's all about "sustainability", so you may need to bring your own TP.

Tip: Eat well at dinner, as the "continental" breakfast seems to be from Antarctica. Seriously, communes have more appetizing fare in the morning. (poppy & onion bagels for breakfast!?)

Does Gawker know there's a challenge? What's their total? How do you find info about this from their end? I did a google search for 'gawker holiday challenge' and 'gawker charity' and it's all slog posts about this challenge. A search of 'donation' on their website turned up nothing of use, nor 'slog'.

What am I missing?

@2, that it's a joke.

@3 Yeah, but I still don't get it. The punchline is that slog is so insignificant? Or that the only way slog could win a fund-raising challenge is by setting up a fake challenge?
Is it about Gawker?

I used to have meetings and team events at Cederbrook almost weekly back when I was a WaMu Technology Vice President and sometimes I'd hop the shuttle over there from downtown just to grab lunch.

Oh, how times have changed.
