The Good, the Bad, and the Sexy

Posted by on Fri, Dec 16, 2011 at 10:27 AM

The Good: Have you seen this amazing Fox News "mistake" yet? In a graphic showing the candidates' standings in the polls, they put a photo of Barack Obama where Mitt Romney's face should have gone:

If you don't have video at your work, you can find a screenshot, via Slog tipper Mike, right here. The apology that followed was about as perfunctory as you can get; if ever you needed proof that Fox News dislikes Romney, there it is.

The Bad: A new AP poll says 52% of all Americans say Barack Obama should not be reelected. This isn't as dire as it sounds—it's a year away from the election, of course, and it's not a poll of likely voters, among other, broader problems that always come with polls of this sort—but it's still not good news for the Obama Administration because it gives the Republicans another faux-statistic they can employ in their stump speeches.

The Sexy: Gawker says the first openly gay member of Texas's legislature has published a book titled Head Figure Head: The Search for the Hidden Life of Rick Perry. It's mostly a couple of anonymous interviews with men who claimed to have had sex with Perry, backed up with sketchier, vaguer, interviews. Gawker has an excerpt, which includes this account of what the sex was like:

"He jerked down his shorts," [James said], "It lasted about a minute. He had a little dick. It was the worst fuck of my life. And on top of it all he stunk because he had been jogging. He then pulled up his shorts and put the used condom in his pocket."

You know, this book doesn't sound very credible, but I have to say: That sure does sound like what sex with a gay man who's closeted as a bigoted anti-gay politican would be like.

I'm guessing the glitch in the video was real, caused by someone in the control room mashing the shot-selector buttons flat-handed? The frozen expressions of Megyn Kelly and the field correspondent indicate that they were taken by surprise. Wonder what they heard in their earpieces.

You hear nothing from Democrats because the Republicans are on the news constantly spewing their nonsense, so yeah, we're going to be down right now. But it won't be long before we'll have a chance to remind people what skullduggery and lies the Republicans are all about.

Mr. Constant, your definition of "Sexy" and mine must be very different

Gotta love how Megyn points out the differences between Obama and Romney: "You can see Romney has dark hair and a blue tie." OMG, Obama has dark hair and a blue tie in his picture too! They really ARE the same guy!

(well, actually one is a moderate Republican and the other is a right-wing psycho masquerading as a moderate Republican.)

Fox routinely runs graphics that misrepresent facts in a way that either makes republicans look good or democrats look bad. In this example the latest 8.6% unemployment rate is visually misrepresented. Had it been accurately plotted the line would have dropped dramatically at the end. Someone decided that was not in line with their narrative so they misrepresented the facts.

If polled on the question of whether Obama should be reelected, I would answer in the negative. Depending on how close the race is, however, I expect that I would vote for him to keep any of the likely Republican nominees out of office.
