Well, according to the League of Education Voters, more than 3,500 voters used the LEV's online calculator to try and balance the budget themselves, and most of the respondents wanted the legislature to raise revenue to cover the state's $2 billion shortfall. The top budget-balancing measure? An income tax that would basically wipe out the current budget shortfall all by itself:

Income tax for high earners, paired with reduced property tax rates: $1,932 million

Reduces state property tax by 20 percent and eliminates the business and occupations tax for all small businesses. These reductions in revenue would be offset with a tax on joint incomes above $400,000 ($200,000 for individuals).
