The art invention of the year is by an artist in Bellingham. It's called the chromatic typewriter, and it types colors rather than letters, creating paintings from keystrokes.

It's the creation of Tyree Callahan.

Inspired by the paintings of JMW Turner, he adapted a 1937 Underwood Standard typewriter by replacing the ink pads with pads loaded with colored paint (oil). The letter keys are now colors instead.

He submitted it to the West Prize. Vote for it to win!
