Chimerica Today: China Wants to Improve American Roads and Railways

Posted by on Fri, Dec 2, 2011 at 8:20 AM

Sydney Morning Herald...

China wants to convert some of its mountain of US government debt into investment in renovating American roads and subways, the commerce minister says.

Speaking to a business group, Chen Deming said China wants closer cooperation with the United States in infrastructure, clean energy and technology.

Converting debts to infrastructure investments would create American jobs, and more jobs would mean more money for Americans to spend on Chinese products. This is Chimerica in a state of perfection.

Hahaha, this is awesome. The only problem I can see is that some folks will resist this, not because it's bad for us, but because China wants it.

Well, they did a pretty good job building the railroads.

@2, lol. I was going to say something like that. I for one welcome our Chinese Railroad Overloards to force poor desperate laborers to work in deplorable conditions for little to no pay. (Kidding!) They must be loving the karma of this.

I love it. Our interdependence with China is a wonder. It is delightful that they see clearly how much their own people, who make no mistake are feeling the global pinch of American demand dropoff in services and goods, will benefit from acting in our best interests on infrastructure investments.

And that Obama's failure to get ahead of the curve represents an opportunity we cannot regenerate for ourselves. This could be great news.

Anything that brings us closer to China makes it harder for us to make moves to curb its growing economic and military influence in east Asia, and *that* is something China is willing to pay for.

Hopefully the chinese asphalt we'll have to put on our roads won't have to be recalled and replaced, as the chinese sheetrock used in our walls was.

No wonder Newtie wants to end child labor laws, bringing the US even closer to China in totalitarian behaviors.

Instead of the money trusts of yore importing cheaper Chinese laborers to be gandy dancers, China will utilize the cheapest American labor for the new gandy dancers.

What was that phrase about history and repitition????

@ #4 "...force poor desperate laborers to work in deplorable conditions for little to no pay."

No, no. They want to repair our infrastructure, not take over Amazon's warehouses. :)

It would be hilariously ironic if the necessary stimulus to save our economy came from the Chinese.
