9-9-9: The Movie

Posted by on Mon, Nov 28, 2011 at 10:44 AM

This is a very long animated movie in which Herman Cain's campaign rails against the "dorky, mechanical monster" that is the current tax code:

Man, these guys sure do hate the government. (Did you catch the secret Satanic message?)

Sure sounds good. I just don't understand how you can cut taxes on the rich, raise taxes on the middle class, increase revenue and call it fair.

Squarely aimed at the "bad at math" demographic.

That was idiotic. Our tax code can be very complicated (often for good reason), but little about it is "hidden." Don't like your withholdings? Have your employer adjust them.

He gets point for this video though. It’s right in the sweet spot of hyperbole and “smart, but not too smart sounding” that many prime time viewing Americans will totally buy. You’ll have as much luck explaining to a toddler what makes a car go as you would debunking this video to anyone that bought its premise— “Ok Gunner, forget all that other stuff. The gas pedal makes the car go. Happy?”
