Mitt Romney's New Ad Quotes Obama Saying Something He Didn't Actually Say

Posted by on Mon, Nov 21, 2011 at 9:01 PM

Well, he said it, but he was quoting an opponent, as the ad fails to mention. Here, watch.

New York Times:

The ad shows Mr. Obama saying, “If we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose.”

But the line, which is perhaps the spot’s most devastating moment, is also the one that seems to be the most taken out of context. In fact, at the time, Mr. Obama was referring to something that an aide to his then opponent, Senator John McCain of Arizona, had said in reference to the McCain campaign — not Mr. Obama, then or now.

Wow! That's a new low and yet I bet most GOP primary voters won't care about the context or pesky things like facts and their well known liberal bias!!

I don't think that's a new low. I think they've been way lower plenty often. What a dick.

Both Perry and Romney are also doing a similar thing- taking something else the President said out of context and blowing it up.

There is NOT a thing out of context. It's all there, just as was said. And that's just one time he said it! When will the crazy democrats finally take the harsh look at their baby Obama, and face reality. He is, what he is! And he's failed this country with his lack of knowledge and experience, and his total narcissistic behavior. He needs to go back to wherever it was he really came from and maybe try to educate himself a great deal on economics, American validity, Foreign and Domestic Affairs, American Defense, etc. etc. etc. etc. Obama is a completer failure and YES!, he has stated so himself! The American people with intelligence are just done with this foolish character! We need a man with brains and experience to get our once great country back on top! ONLY Mitt Romney can do that! This is why he will win! ByeBama!

He did say:

I've already proposed a middle-class tax cut for 95% of workers and their families, but today I'm calling on Congress to pass a plan so that the IRS will mail out the first round of those tax cuts as soon as possible.

Did that happen?

Barack Obama on the Today Show’s speaking to Matt Lauer:

“Look, I’m at the start of my administration. One nice thing about the situation I find myself in is that I will be held accountable. You know, I’ve got four years,”

“A year from now I think people are going to see that we’re starting to make some progress. But there’s still going to be some pain out there. If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”

(Obama has been President for 2 years 10 months,,,,)

Kind of funny that Romney is selling himself as the guy who will create manufacturing jobs here in America and put guys in hard hats back to work. If he'd had his way General Motors would have been allowed to go bankrupt. How many unionized factory jobs did you outsource to China when you were with Bain & Company, Mitt? Now he wants us to believe he's the man who will put Real America back to work.

@13: taking a politician quoting another politician and implying that it was an original statement IS a low blow, and not typically done. cut off the beginning or end of an original statement, that's normal. but getting that far in to the gutter with a year to go? that's innovation.

I suppose you all want Barrack "I hate America" Obama to go another round? Socialism doesn't work. Once Newt Gingrich is in the White House America will become the nation it once was, strong and proud. USA, USA, USA

Though I am an Obama supporter, the issue in this coming election will not be about truth. It will be about how people feel. President Obama must connect and convince the voters that he understands (a la Bill Clinton) their pain and even more importantly, cares about us. The other governments on the planet are being tossed out because people are scared. Republicans understand the game as well as anyone. We must be equipped to win. That means playing the game better than the right.

I'm not concerned that Romney is a mormon. I'm very concerned that he was an investment banker.

This is about the ten thousandth example of the intellectual or moral bankruptcy of the current republican presidential contenders. You can't keep pulling this kind of shit without being either stupid or evil, or both.

@1 New Low my left butt cheek.

Standard political tactics.

Such tactics have been used by Dems, Reps, Dan Savage, etc, and so on. Assume nothing is taken in context, always research yourself.
