In celebration of the excesses of Wall Street, today is Bank Transfer Day across the nation and worldwide, in which tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of frustrated citizens will close their accounts at big banks like Chase, Bank of America, Citibank and Wells Fargo, and move their money to small local banks and credit unions. Many of us here at The Stranger have already switched banks, and I promise you, it feels good.

Here in Seattle, Working Washington has organized its own Big Bank Break-Up Day, with a gathering in Westlake Park at 10 am. And if you're not sure where to move your money, just type in your zip code at Banxodus.org, and get a map with nearby credit unions.
