Would You Like a Free Haircut or a Beard Trim Today?

Posted by on Fri, Nov 4, 2011 at 11:38 AM

A little bird who knows someone who works for the company Creature tells me you can get free haircuts and beard trims today at a makeshift barbershop on 12th, in the storefront next to Northwest Film Forum, which has been transformed to look like this:

Word has it the stylist is from the salon Seven and she's there now and will be until 6:00 pm. One day only! Free! Get your hair over there! More info here.

Aw, that used to be Carburetor Specialty, at the base of that building that used to house a processing plant and showroom for a local company that was the world's largest big-game taxidermy outfit, Jonas Bros.

The Republican donor who owns the Sorrento added this to his collection of Pike/Pine buildings he rehabbed, in this instance kicking out all the artists who had live-work spaces upstairs in favor of purely commercial rental space. Ah well.

@2, within the tiny orbit of places where I've slept, screwed, eaten and/or got drunk, maybe...

P.S. Jonas Bros. was (for a time, until brought low by changing fashions and the evolution of endangered species law) such a huge manufacturer of stuffed big game, rugs and skins they once had a second Capitol Hill store and plant. Local gays know that location as R Place.

You're supposed to be growing your mustaches in honor of men's cancers and Jack Layton, actually.

So save the 'stache, chop the beard.

I am pretty sure I have those identical chairs at my dining room table. Inherited from the parents,

Except, sadly, the black naugahyde didn't survive two growing boys. Mom replaced the covers on all four chairs with hand-crocheted seatcovers in the late 70's. In, predictably, gold, amber, and creme colored geometric designs. Wanna see?
