Cantwell Investigation of Salmon Anemia Passes Senate

Posted by on Tue, Nov 1, 2011 at 4:23 PM

Quick update on the salmon anemia situation: Washington Senator Maria Cantwell, along with several other Senators, has succeeded in getting an amendment passed that "requires a report be delivered to Congress within six months" outlining the extent of the problem (and possible solutions).

“Pacific Northwest wild salmon support tens of thousands of local jobs," Cantwell said. "We need to take immediate action to protect these jobs by quickly developing a salmon virus action plan... While infectious salmon anemia poses no threat to human health or seafood, we must stay ahead of the infection before it becomes a crisis.”

The Senate was actually working on something of real value today? I demand my senators take up the In God We Trust legislation now. The salmon can take care of themselves, obviously.

too little too late. well, i guess that's better than what the government usually does... the standard options being either nothing or actively harming the populace.
