Mitt Romney: Fashion Icon

Posted by on Mon, Oct 31, 2011 at 11:35 AM

Last week, Slog overwhelmingly chose Mitt Romney's $60 campaign fleece over Michele Bachmann's campaign fleece. No doubt thanks in part to your excitement, Mitt Romney has unleashed two more fashion creations on the world. His fleece, which was previously only available in navy, now comes in gray. But more importantly, the Romney camp is now selling the Believe In America Hoodie for $50.

I would only wear it if it said "I'm a Bieber Believer".

"The hoi polloi" is redundant. It is latin for "the masses". When you say "The hoi polloi" you are saying "The the masses".

@ 2, if you're going to be a know it all, then at least get it right. Hoi Polloi is Greek.

Also, Latin is capitalized.

You're the grammar cop equivalent of a drunk highway patrolman.

A hoodie with a full zip is going to beat all the other options.

A bold stance to take against those who do not believe in America's existence.

You left out the "just shoot me" option.

The navy fleece still wins by virtue of having the more attractive chin model.

@2, except that the phrase is not only not Latin, it's not Greek, either. It's FROM the Greek, but those are not Greek letters, and once imported into English, it's English and takes an English article.
[...] this is merely pedantic, not to say inconsistent with other uses of articles inherited from others languages; for example, alchemist, which comes from the Arabic, where al means the - and yet no one complains that the alchemist is incorrect.

@ 9, I already took care of it.

I would totally get the "I BELIEVE IN AMERICA" one, and silkscreen "I DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD, BUT" on the left.

@8 Well the second model is disadvantaged by that horrible angle.

@12 - The purpose of judging them by their looks is to potentially see them from that angle (and others). Romney Chin Model Number 1 shows potential for still being the more attractive one from that direction.

Agreed @5, and I like #11's idea. I think it says "Mitt Romney 2012" or something in tiny letters, but you could probably pick those off or sew a patch over them -- an American flag, maybe?

I can't wait to see the shoddy knock-off merchandise that says "Ramney".

There needs to be an options for "Even if I weren't gay, only engineering students from Ohio would actually fish that out of a Salvation Army donation bin and wear it!"
