Herman Cain Addresses Sexual Harassment Claims in Song

Posted by on Mon, Oct 31, 2011 at 11:58 AM

In another what-the-fuck moment, Herman Cain just concluded a National Press Club appearance by singing a gospel song called "He Looked Beyond my Faults." Here's the video. Please note that it comes after a speech and a series of questions about the sexual harassment story that Politico broke this weekend:

YouTube commenters are rapt in their adoration:

This is how he turns the other cheek. True dignity and integrity !!!

amazing Herman! Yes, we Cain! Conservatives for Herman! Liberals, like Politico, are racists

yes we Cain evict Obama from the White House!

So rather than insist he is not guilty, he is saying that all is forgiven by God.

Hmm.....

@1 Yeah . . . . that's exactly what I've been getting from this. All these headlines have been "Cain denies allegations" but when they actually describe how he's reacted to it I see a lot of deflection, hemming, hawing, and ultimately alluding to this being true.

If it were completely untrue he wouldn't be using these odd, roundabout tactics. His strange, ridiculous responses and childish retorts ("Did YOU Sexually Harass anyone?" to the reporter who first asked him) are hilarious proof that there IS validity to this issue.

Which isn't surprising. What would have been surprising is a Herman Cain who wasn't so full of himself he would sexually harass co-workers, underlings, or women in general.

'.. he looked beyond all my faults and saw my needs'.. that's how the song goes. take it anyway you want to.

"god forgave me" is actually a pretty good excuse for conservatives. it works for them for any number of sins. convenient, that.

anyway, fuck them all, Politico is NOT "liberal", whatthefuckever that means anymore.

It was a youthful indiscretion, God has forgiven him, and of course we shouldn't use that as an example of his judgment. Like W with the DUI years after he swore he'd stopped drinking entirely.

Why is he singing Amazing Grace to the tune of Oh Danny Boy? I mean, it's not as weird as singing Girlfriend In A Coma to the tune of Tiptoe Through The Tulips, but it's not right.

Cain is the epitome of the jokey, affable guy who has the eyes of a sociopath. I'm with #2; I would be surprised if he *didn't* sexually harass someone.

@7.. it's not 'amazing grace', nor technically 'danny boy'.. the line is ' amazing grace will always be my song of praise'..and then the lyrics go somewhere else.. the new lyrics were penned by dottie rambo ( if my memory serves me right ) and it was a gospel 'hit' in the mid 70's.. why he chose londonderry air ( which you recognize as the popular 'danny boy' the lyrics of which were added to the tune much later.) is anybody's guess.. but gospel artists have a long history of stealing tunes and resetting them to profane melodies..
now i kinda feel all fnarf-y and stuff ...

Oh let's do everything in our power to ensure that Herman Cain is the Republican nominee.
