Bachmann Vs. Romney: Whose Fleece Is Best?

Posted by on Thu, Oct 27, 2011 at 8:08 AM

Last night, I received an e-mail from Michele Bachmann titled "Can I send you a fleece?" I was so excited! Michele Bachmann thought I looked chilly! My hopes were dashed when I read further into the e-mail to discover she would only send me a Bachmann fleece if I sent her $75, even though she claimed she just wanted to keep me warm "[a]s the sun begins to set earlier and the air has that wonderful autumn crisp in it." She assured me that my funds would help strengthen her belief "that America is still a conservative nation and the American people are desperate for a return to the common-sense conservative solutions that once made our nation flourish." While I admired the poetry of her words, I set the e-mail aside.

Then, two hours later, a second e-mail arrived in my inbox. It came from Mitt Romney's Digital Director, Zac Moffatt, and it was titled "Campaign fleece." Moffatt urged me to "[w]arm up this fall with an official Romney 2012 fleece pullover." And the Romney fleece is just $60—a veritable steal compared to Bachmann's. Clearly, it's time for a Fleece-off Slog Poll:

I think even Michele Bachmann would insist that you go with the one who has offered the better deal. To subsidize an overpriced campaign fleece that can't compete on its own in the Free Market because of your political agenda is socialism.

Besides, Romney's people picked a more attractive chin model.

Bachmann's will be more ironic when my children pull it out of my closet in 15 years.

Bachmann's, only for the ironic laughs next winter after she drops out.

I'll bet you $10 both of those fleeces are made by cheap labor in asia.

Bachmann's looks warmer but Romney's is definitely more stylish.

How about the same fleece from Target, for $10 with nobody's name on it.

In which part of China are these things made?

If Habitat For Humanity, Obama campaign or even the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee offered these exact same fleeces, I could see myself plunking down that much or more for them. I just can't see myself funding the insanity, though.

Fleece is horrible.

While trying to discover whether Romney's fleece is made in the USA or not, I discovered that the standard meaning of the term refers to the wool (fleece is sheared but otherwise unprocessed wool) of a breed of sheep called a "Romney".

@11 - Romney fleece is made out of sheeple!

Better to give money to the non-viable candidate.

We elect either one of these jokers and we'll all get fleeced.

That's bad design.

Romney's because the patch is much smaller and easier to cover up.

No option for the Herman Cain smoking jacket? Can this serve as a message to Seattle that fleece is horribly unsexy. Enough with the gortex, the fleece and the North Face.

@18- Function over form, biffp. Fleece and Goretex are wonder fabrics, I'm not going to be uncomfortable to assuage your sense of style.
