Armed Felon Arrested at Occupy Seattle

Posted by on Tue, Oct 18, 2011 at 1:35 PM

Proof that life isn't just about protester arrests and See's Candies parades for the cops patrolling Occupy Seattle: Yesterday at roughly 6:00 p.m., bike cops pedaling around Westlake Park came across "a 40-year old man carrying a rifle case over his shoulder," according to the Seattle Police Department's blog. A background check revealed that the man was a convicted felon.

Officers overheard him say that he was carrying a Ruger, an apparent reference to the firearms manufacturer. Officers made contact with the man and removed the case. A search of the case revealed an unloaded short barreled rifle with a pistol grip. Officers asked the man if he had any ammunition for the rifle and he provided them with an ammunition box that contained approximately 16 rounds.

Officers booked the man into King County Jail for a felony weapons violation.

But was he wearing a helmet or seat belt?

I don't... Why would... WTF?

Did he just wake up and say to himself "Welp, I'm a felon and I can't have guns, but I happen to have this gun here. I wonder where I could find the most cops this side of a police station? I'd love to show it off."

I'm sure this will get trumped up in the anti occupy elements of the media. Pretty soon you'll have to take your shoes off to protest and you'll only be allowed to carry 2 oz of shampoo with you in Westlake Park.

Yes, but was he sitting on the ground with an open umbrella?

Someone brining shampoo to Westlake wouldn't be the worst idea...

How many of those at Westlake are licensed for concealed carry?

In other news, SPD collared (elsewhere) the serial public masturbator who had been hiding in plain sight lately at the Westlake occupation.

Gives fresh meaning to that old "whole world is watching" chant.

You know. When you call for "eating the rich", one of your friends is bound to show up with a gun.

Obviously when Goldy called for violence he was listening.

Speaks volumes though that when Tea Partiers bring guns they bring pistols that they are licensed to carry, but when Flea Partiers bring guns they bring assault rifles that they are not permitted to even own.

@11: Let me know when gun-wielding leftist demonstrators actually DO shoot congresspeople, or attempt to shoot up a think tank they disagree with.
