What the Occupiers Are Eating

So we know that Dan Savage sent Occupy Seattle a grazillion doughnuts, and Big Mario sent a bunch of pizzas... and on Wall Street, the protesters are apparently eating very well:

AFTER nearly two weeks of living among the Occupy Wall Street protesters in downtown Manhattan, Ellis Roberts, 25, a Pennsylvania garbage collector laid off last year, looked scruffy and dazed.

He was not, however, hungry.

“I’ve been here for 12 days, and I’ve put on 5 pounds,” he said, sitting on the ground in front of a handmade sign that said “Class War Ahead.” “I’m eating better than I do at home.”

In New York, they've gotten pizza, too—with donors phoning in "orders from places like Germany, France, England, Italy and Greece, as well as every region of the United States"—and sandwiches from famous Katz's Deli, and goldfish crackers, and organic cookies, and on and on.

So, hey, since See's down in Westlake isn't selling as much candy as usual because of Occupy, maybe someone should call in an order for a sugar fix for the protesters? We should fatten up our protesters, too! Here's the phone number!

Why aren't the candy vendors offering Occupy Seattle discounts and Buy 2 Feed 1 Occupier specials?

Did they all fail Marketing?

Or are they just used to handouts from Tax-Subsidies for the Rich?

I'm still sending care packages to Occupy Wall Street - Starbucks VIA, tea, Emergen-C, roasted almonds, granola bars and other snacks. Some ibuprofen and band-aids thrown in too.

Even if you're broke, especially if you're broke, at least send a postcard or note of encouragement:

See's Candy supports anti-gay causes. Just putting that out there.

is LUSH @ Westlake donating soap shavings to Occupy Seattle? The participants can be fragrant enough to represent "flowers in the dustbin" of renegade capitalism.

Son of a bitch! Somebody please tell me @5 is mistaken because there's no way in hell I'm going the rest of my life without my Milk Cocoanuts! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!! Is it acceptable to simply offset my purchase at See's by donating the same amount of money to HRC or something.

So, I know this really is totally off of the original topic but I was upset enough to do a Google search and the only thing I could come up with was that See's lost their lease in Union Square in 2009 due to not complying with the SF's Equal Benefits Ordinance. However, it appears that the issue isn't that they don't provide benefits to domestic partner's, it was that there were some minor differences in the benefits provided that would have needed Union re-negotiations to revise. Rather than go through the Union negotiations, they gave up the lease. I don't see any evidence at all that they have been donating to anti-gay causes or actually discriminating against gay employess, etc. Does anyone have anything more compelling to encourage me to give up my milk cocoanuts forever?

@9 - HA! Yeah, yeah. I think the once or twice a year I actually get them is probably not going to kill me but I do appreciate the concern. Hot damn, I want one now though.

By the way, please forgive the punctuation and grammar errors in my previous posts. I was obviously very upset.

See's Candies has a location in San Francisco at Embarcadero Center. I would imagine that location would be covered by the SF laws regarding benefits.

I haven't read where he stands on these protests, but, for what it's worth, Warren Buffett owns See's Candies.
