Being able to get out of a pair of super-skinny jeans without pulling them off inside-out and getting them stuck on your heels.

Knowing how to dress appropriately for easy transit through airport security: slipons, no watch, etc.

Knowing the microwave times for every conceivable kind of frozen entree from Trader Joe's by heart but not how to fry an egg.

@47 is pretty good. @9 is great.
And ... that whole global warming thing. This is true, even for Seattleites. Having a negative footprint is a pretty good skill.
For many, the 21st Century means moving to environments where food may be an option.
Most importantly, perhaps, is tolerance to change. Veganism, anyone? High-density living with food grown close to home?
