Is it okay that I made a special effort to do some shopping at Westlake stores while attending the protest Saturday? I felt it best to let nearby shopowners know the crowd did include their customers.

When did the protest suddenly become about saying fuck shopping? Isn't it supposed to be about bringing attention to unemployment and the need to impose higher taxes on the wealthiest percent?

Is it really a revolution if people have to be prodded by shopkeepers and online blogs to attend?

Shopping is exactly what will turn the economy around. No shopping = total economic collapse. Go out and buy some stuff.

Once again the word "revolution" gets tossed around all too lightly. We had all better hope this doesn't end in a *real* revolution. The end result of pretty much every modern revolution has been a military junta, and the military is OVERWHELMINGLY conservative in this country. Talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire...

@14 They just use that word because otherwise they'd have to admit that the reason their pet cause has not taken off is not because of, the media, the banks, the powerful, or whatever, but because it's just not a popular cause.

Most people are pretty OK with how the country is organized. They might debate whether the top bracket should be 35 or 39% or whether we should be in Iraq or not, but full scale social change is not something they want. And why should they? The vast majority of people have enough food to eat, a nice place to sleep, schools to send their kids too, and enough money left over to entertain themselves.

yeah, no shopping means no need for goods and/or services means no need to hire people to work at stores/in manufacturing means no jobs means protesters complaining about not having jobs means hipster stores putting up signs telling people not to shop. genius!

Buy things!! It stimulates the economy! The people who have millions or billions squirreled away and don't do a gorram thing with it are the problem. They don't want to pay taxes on it so they can amass and hoard ridiculous amounts of cash. Buy things!

It appears further clarity is needed: The sign is not saying "fuck shopping" as some kind of statement of the protest's philosophical principles.

It's saying "fuck shopping right now, as an important protest is going on and you should participate."

I thought this message was pretty (extremely) clear, but it has for some reason created confusion.

Are there locks on the doors at B-Side? Why? To protect the products they intend to sell? WHAT? Isn't there a revolution going on?

If they don't want us to shop there, can we have all their stuff for free?

@16 As a Eisenhower Republican, I want the top tax rate to be more like twice that.

@21 The top bracket was a lot higher then too. Millions in today's dollars. Lots more tax shelters too. In terms of percent of GDP tax revenue was lower than in today's era (great recession excluded)

@22 Wow, giffy, this is just getting weird. You're embarrassingly wrong.
