Marriage to Newt Gingrich Is a Temporary Aberration

Posted by on Mon, Oct 3, 2011 at 12:09 PM

Daily Kos brings this to our attention:

“I believe that marriage is between a man and woman,” Gingrich said, the Des Moines Register reports. “It has been for all of recorded history and I think this is a temporary aberration that will dissipate. I think that it is just fundamentally goes against everything we know.”

Of course, marriage to Newt Gingrich is a temporary aberration, too. Not one of his marriages has lasted twenty years.

Newt's been married more times than anyone I know. He's got to be an expert by now.

Recorded history is very short. Human history is hundreds of thousands of years. And by my history many men had many wives at the same time. They even had their wives killed. It's Newt that's the aberration.

20 years is a pretty long time in today's world.

Marriage as it is today is not even close to what it was when it first started ... so Newt does have a valid point here.

This guy has a point. As the trend of the disappearing middle class continues on its 40yr run and the playing field is leveled for everyone but the top 2%, society will inevitably get way more conservative as it regresses closer to a 3rd world status. I guess the regression could be avoided if we come up with an effective Soma/X like drug for the slaves that engenders a sort of progressive, dirt floor, techno culture; but I wouldnt count on it. [see poor-ass societies everywhere; conservative as shit]

So I hate Newt as much as anyone, but this sure looks like a cheap out of context quote. "This" probably refers to gay marriage.

@7 - Of course he's referring to gay marriage. The point is that Newt Gingrich misses the irony in every single word he's ever said about marriage.

@7 Probably? I can't speak for Paul, but I'm 99.99% sure he's making a joke at Newt's expense for being married multiple times while claiming to be a moral authority on the subject. The headline does not describe the quote, rather Newt's actual, real-life experience with marriage. Besides if you click through, you will see that yes, Newt is indeed referring to gay marriage.

Anyone who still takes Newt Gingrich as a viable candidate for the Repugnicant nomination is obviously a deluded fool. So when Fool Prime speaks about.... ANYTHING, what is the POINT of paying attention?
